Facial Rejuvenation
Eyelid Lift
It is often said that the eyes are a mirror to the soul.
Most patients who request to have eyelid surgery are often asked
by others whether they are tired or have had lack of sleep despite
being well-rested. When your eyes are bright and rejuvenated,
you appear energized, well-rested, and alert. However, if you
have puffy, saggy skin, with dark circles, and droopy eyelids,
you may be perceived as tired, fatigued, sad, or unhealthy.
Goals of Surgery:
1. Remove sagging eyelid skin.
2. Remove eyelid fat bags.
3. Reduce dark circle around eyes.
Eyelid surgery may sometimes be combined with a brow lift depending
on patient characteristics and degree of aging.
Upper Eyelid:
The incision is typically placed along the natural crease of the
eyelids. The exact position is critical, as variations as small
as a few millimeters may result in permanent scarring. Also, differences
in ethnicity require adjustments in incision placement. Dr. Karamanoukian
is experienced in the individual characteristics of both the Asian
and Caucasian eyelids.
Asian Eyelid:
Double eyelid surgery is one of the most difficult and precise
operations performed. Dr. Karamanoukian individualizes the technique
based on ethnic variations in Asian eyelids and has mastered his
skills by performing surgery in Taipei, Linkou, Taiwan.
Recovery:
Patients usually return to work within one week of surgery. Mild
bruising and swelling are common concerns after surgery, but can
often be camouflaged with concealer or foundation.
Facelift
As we age, the most noticeable changes often occur in the face.
Fine lines and wrinkles develop around the eyes and mouth, the
neck and jaw line become less distinct, the cheek begins to descend,
jowls begin to form, and skin continues to weaken.
Goals of sugery:
1. Restore neck and jaw line.
2. Reduce or remove deep folds and wrinkles.
3. Reduce loose skin and excess fatty tissue.
4. Reduce jowl lines and the fold at the corner of your nose
A natural looking facelift is the goal of a successful operation.
Few men or women desire changes that alter their look or change
their face. These create abnormal appearances and are to be avoided.
The incisions used are carefully and meticulously placed in front
and behind the ear so as to be inconspicuous months after surgery.
Results are highly
dependent on experience and technique.
Anesthesia:
Rhytidectomy, or facelift surgery, is performed under general
anesthesia and requires overnight observation in a hospital, aftercare,
or home setting.
Recovery:
Recovery after a facelift is generally 1 to 3 weeks. During this
time, patients may typically return to work and may use concealer
or foundation to cover areas of the face. Strenuous activity should
be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks.
Rhinoplasty
A well-shaped nose that is harmonious with the rest of the face
contributes to a youthful, attractive appearance. The key to a
successful nose surgery is making it look natural, where no one
can even tell that you’ve had it done. This can only happen
by choosing an experienced plastic surgeon.
You may be a candidate for nasal surgery if:
1) You have a large bump or hump on your nose.
2) Your nose is too large or too small.
3) Your nasal tip is too low.
4) Your nostrils are too large.
5) You nose is crooked.
6) You can’t breathe correctly.
Rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty is performed for purely cosmetic
reasons or for medical reasons to improve breathing. A thorough
examination will allow Dr. Karamanoukian to diagnose your specific
needs and provide you with different options for surgery. The
goal is to make your nose look as natural as possible. Results
are highly dependent on experience, technique, and attention to
detail.
Anesthesia:
Nasal surgery, depending on the amount of changes to be made,
can be performed under local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general
anesthesia.
Recovery:
Usually ranges from 1 to 2 weeks. After surgery is complete, a
cast is placed on your nose and taken off during your clinic appointment. |
