Body Contouring
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, and advancing age may cause
changes in muscle tone and fat content along the stomach area.
Excessive fat and bulging of the area around the belly button
can be improved by performing an abdominoplasty. In this outpatient
proce- dure, the stomach muscles are tightened and the excessive
fat is surgi- cally removed. This results in a more shapely profile
around the abdo- men.
Newer incision patterns include the bikini-abdominoplasty, where
scars are placed very low in order to minimize the appearance
of scars.
Cellulite Treatment
Cellulite is a very common problem. Non-surgical options are routinely
performed to minimize the appearance of cellulite along the thighs,
hips, and buttocks. Liposuction
Liposuction involves the removal of excess fat using a few tiny
incisions placed on the skin. The goal of surgery is to re-sculpt
troublesome areas of the body in order to achieve a slimmer waistline,
thighs, hips, torso, abdomen, calves, ankles, or jaw line.
There are several types of liposuction performed throughout the
world. Essentially, there are three categories of liposuction
that are most com- monly performed.
1. Conventional liposuction.
2. Power-Assisted liposuction.
3. Ultrasound-Assisted liposuction.
Anesthesia:
Depending on the area treated and the individual needs of each
patient, liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia (with
the patient awake), under IV sedation (twilight sleep), or under
general anesthesia.
Recovery:
Recovery after liposuction is roughly 1 to 2 weeks and ranges
from patient to patient. During this time, patients resume normal
work activi- ties but may experience bruising in certain areas,
and sporadic pain. A compression garment is recommended for 1
to 3 months after surgery.
Scar Revision
Scars are often unpredictable. Many scars may improve with time,
while others may become worse with advancing age. There are many
non-surgical and surgical options for scar revision including
laser treat- ment, skincare, surgical removal, and injections.
Treatments for scars often require minimal downtime and can be
performed in an outpa- tient setting. |
