Breast Enhancement
Breast Augmentation
There are many safe options available for breast augmentation.
Breast enlargement can be achieved by surgically placing saline
(salt-water) or silicone implants to enlarge breast size, enhance
the overall shape of the breast, improve cleavage, and/or correct
assymetry.
Breast implants can be placed through the several different incisions,
including the armpit, areola, or inframmamary fold.
Breast Lift
Mastopexy, or breast lift surgery, is commonly performed in pre
and post meno-pausal women who desire firmer, and more youthful
looking breasts. Many women complain of increased sagginess of
the breast and nipple that has occurred with age or after child-birth.
Breast lifts can be performed alone, in combination with breast
implants, or during breast reduction surgery. A candidate for
surgery may also complain of droopy nipples, loss of breast volume,
or breast asymmetry.
Goals of Surgery:
1. Reduce the sagginess of the breast.
2. Raise the position of the nipple.
3. Reduce the size of the areola.
4. Improve breast symmetry (size, position)
5. Increase, decrease, or keep breast volume.
Mastopexy is performed to restore the youthfulness of your breast
size and shape.
This is often highly dependent on the quality of your breast skin.
During your con- sultation, ask Dr. Karamanoukian about procedures
to improve the skin of your breast and chest. The goal of mastopexy
is a firmer breast with increased projec- tion and improved shape.
Breast Reduction
Many women complain of breasts that are disproportionately sized
and that interfere with daily activities, exercise, or cause pain
in the neck back and shoul- ders. Often, the use of support bras
cause grooving. Breast size may also limit activities and the
choice of clothes. If you experience any of these symptoms, you
may be a candidate for breast reduction surgery.
Goals of Surgery:
1. Reduce the volume and weight of the breasts.
2. Relieve pain associated with large breasts.
3. Change body proportions with respect to breasts.
Breast reduction may be performed for purely cosmetic purposes
(body shaping) or as a medically-necessary procedure to relieve
pain and discomfort associated with heavy breasts. There is no
guarantee the breast reduction surgery will relieve any pain.
There are two types of breast reduction surgery commonly performed:
• Short scar breast reduction • Anchor (Inverted
T) incision breast reduction.
Anesthesia:
Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and will
require post operative overnight observation in a hospital, aftercare,
or home setting.
Recovery:
Recovery after breast reduction usually ranges from 2 to 3 weeks.
During this time, patients may resume normal activities and return
to work. They are limited. |
