Dr. Karamanoukian is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and completed his plastic surgery training at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. He is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the university.

SCHEDULING:
We will accomodate your request for appointments as best we can. We want to keep all of our patients happy. Keep in mind that we have several thousand patients currently receiving treatment and who have already scheduled their appointments. A wait period may be required. Please schedule ahead of time to ensure timeliness of appointments. We require 24 hour notice for cancellations. A $50 dollar cancellation fee is assessed at the time of your next appointment if 24 hour notice is not provided. This policy is applied as a no-show time slot is not fair for those patients who have waited for their appointments for weeks.

Dr. Karamanoukian is an expert on laser hair removal and has performed thousands of treatments on patients of all complexions. He currently uses the Candela Gentle Yag laser hair removal system and the Palomar Starlux system that can be used on all skin types, including olive and black skin.
Patients with significant hyperpigmentation may be required to use a topical cream before or after treatment to avoid complications. A physician or physician-supervised nurse will be performing the treatment.
We will be able to perform the treatment on the day of consultation. Numbing cream will be offered for the upper lip, chin, and underarms to be purchased (this is to maintain hygiene and prevent cross contamination between patients). Cost of numbing cream is $10.00 and can be used for multiple sessions.
We cannot guarantee how many sessions a person will need for complete and permanent hair removal. This depends on the type of hair, hair density, thickness, and other factors. Patients may experience some hair regrowth but this is dependant on multiple factors and permanent hair loss cannot be predicted or guaranteed. Typical treatments take 10 minutes to perform and are scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Based on experience, black hair is very responsive to the laser, whereas blonde or white hair is unresponsive. Laser hair removal will not destroy gray or blonde hair. Three sessions will effect significant hair loss in appropriate candidates.
Please note that our office is not a laser hair removal 'factory,' but a professional medical office. We will accomodate your request for treatment and will perform these treatments with sound medical judgement. Not every person is a good candidate for laser hair removal, but we will make every effort to provide this service to you in a safe, ethical, and professional manner.
