Acne Facial in Los Angeles

Acne is a common condition that is caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, glandular skin elements, hormones, stress, the environment, and the rate of skin turnover and skin exfoliation.  Acne is common among patients who present to our Los Angeles office, regardless of age.  It is not uncommon to see patients who are surprised that they are still undergoing acne breakouts well into their thirties and forties. 

Dr. Karamanoukian has specifically designed this acne facial for two groups of patients, teenagers who require deep exfoliation of their clogged pores, and adults who have acne breakouts but do not desire significant downtime from work or daily activities.  The acne treatment does not cause signficant dryness and provides the perfect balance between a medical grade treatment and an acne facial that does not cause significant peeling.  

Dr. Karamanoukian's acne facial works by deeply exfoliating the skin and oil-producing pores.  In doing so, the salicylic acid contained within the peel penetrates the clogged sebum and acts to dissolve this harmful byproduct of the pores.  Once unclogged, the pores are then infused with two potent acids and several enzymatic cleansers to reduce large pore size, oil production, and p-acne bacterial populations.  

If our skin clinician recommends further acne therapy, the skin is treated with a diamond tip or sapphire tip microdermabrasion to mechanically exfoliate the skin in anticipation of a chemical peel.  This is done in combination with a session of bacteria-killing Blue LED light that is applied to further reduce bacterial populations that may contribute to future acne breakouts.  

The last part of our acne treatment is the application of stimulating skin products that have specifically been formulated by Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian.    T
